Description
Building a website can often be expensive and time consuming, but whether you want to start a blog, or an activist website, WordPress allows you to update and create content easily, while allowing for your own style and customization. In this workshop, we will be exploring the world of Wordpress themes, learn how to install and deploy a Wordpress theme or use a free one, including going over domain name and installation, as well as review tips and tricks for creating the best website following accessibility standards. You will walk away with vital tools on how to start or enhance your personal or organizational web presence.
Bring your laptop to the session if you have one, but computers are not required. Handouts and resources to be provided in written format. This session is ideal for people who are brand new to, or have some Wordpress experience.

Location: OISE, 252 Bloor Street West. Room number will be released to registrants before the training.
Trainers: Victoria Barnett is a freelance graphic & web designer who works for social & environmental justice. She designs and works with Wordpress for many web projects. She is an avid social media user, and spends her time designing, teaching and supporting various social movements. She is interested in web design, education and has a background in print design. Victoria is active in JFAAP and Social Justice Open Studio.
Accessibiity: The building and room are wheelchair accessible. Single stall, barrier free gender neutral washroom located on the fifth floor. The closest accessible subway station is St. George. Subway tokens available to attendees by request.
