Event description
Live + Uncensored Derek Seguin Online Show presented by Sudbury Performance Group

About this Event

We at Sudbury Performance Group and Derek Seguin discussed in great length what would be the best way to deliver Derek’s unique style of stand-up comedy for Sudbury audiences in a safe and enjoyable fashion. We decided that for the safety of our audience members, and the citizens of Greater Sudbury, we have opted to have this performance be a live stream event only.

Derek will perform for Sudbury Performance Group from his home city of Montreal as a special fundraiser.

This event will take place on February 12th at 9pm on YouTube Live and ZOOM.

Secondly, we will be offering the live stream event for Derek Seguin as Pay What You Can, with a suggested price of $20 for YouTube and $25 for ZOOM.

Why the price difference? With the ZOOM link, Derek will be able to interact directly with ZOOM participants in a way that is similar to how he interacts with his audience members during a live, in-person show. With the YouTube link, you will be safe from the barbs and jabs that might come your way.

NOTE: There are only 40 tickets MAX for the ZOOM link, so act fast, if this is what you want!

Your unique link will be sent to you the day before the event.

We realize this is not the most convenient way for you to participate in SPG’s night of comedy with Derek Seguin, however, we hope you can understand that we did not make this decision lightly and we are looking out for the safety of our audiences and the rest of Greater Sudbury by trying to avoid possible further spread of COVID-19.

Montreal-based Derek Seguin is one of the most sought after stand up comedians on the international circuit. He has performed at the prestigious invitation-only Just For Laughs festival an impressive six times. Last year he filmed a gala set for HBO at the festival where he received a standing-ovation at the city’s 3,500 seat Place des Arts. This led to an invitation to perform at this year’s Nasty Show.

GQ Magazine’s Comedy Editor reported that: “Montreal-comic Derek Seguin stole one of the most star-studded gala shows last year from host Whitney Cummings. This year he appeared in The Nasty Show (in which the stand-ups perform their most shocking and filthy material) and proceeded to steal that too. A true star and Montreal’s pride and joy.”

The Montreal Gazette enthused that: “Montreal-area comedian Derek Seguin earned a standing ovation for his set during the ninth Just for Laughs gala at the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier in Place des Arts in Montreal Sunday, July 28, 2013. Derek Seguin had me gasping for air, I was laughing so hard at the detailing of his second date with his Newfoundland girlfriend. If you require some insight into the particularities of fellatio, well you just watch for this special. What made it great, however, was not the boldness of his material but that he described it all in such childlike wonder. Brilliant.”

Derek’s other televised appearances include performances at the CBC Winnipeg and Halifax festivals, The Newfoundland Comedy Festival, the Grand Rire du Quebec’s Comedie Club series as well as the Just for Laughs Comedy Special, “Oh Canada!”. He has also appeared on CBC Radio’s, “The Debaters” more than twenty-five times and recorded two episodes of CBC television’s, “The Debaters”.

Undeniably one of Canada’s hottest comedians, he has been touring clubs and theatres across North America intensely for the past few years and his debut concert album “Newfie Octopus” is a bestseller on CD Baby and on iTunes.

Whether he’s ragging on politics or describing life with his children, he brings us into his perspective without preaching any selfish point of view. His undeniable charm makes him simply fun to watch and listen to and is in large part why he is one of Canada’s most “in demand” comedians.

The quintessential performer, Derek is a stand-up comedian, actor, host, narrator, voice actor and most importantly, father of 3 beautiful children… and all this, in both English and French (especially the “papa” part).

A consummate professional, Derek is at home on stage in a comedy club, conference centre, theatre, arena, school or arts centre. He tailors his sets for all audiences and can work clean or filthy. There is no event that won’t be livened up by the addition of Derek’s natural charm, honed comedic genius and warm, witty banter.
