Event description

Description

The Destress for Success © program is organized by the team at the Center for Studies on Human Stress (CSHS).

Previous studies at the Center for Studies on Human Stress have found that children experience a marked increase in stress hormone levels just as they are about to begin high school or at the start of high school. Many find this transition period stressful. Therefore, it is important for preadolescents to receive relevant knowledge at this age and to understand the effects of stress on their mental health, in order to prevent it from causing symptoms and stress-related disorders.

What is the Destress for Success© program?

The DeStress for Success© program was created in 2007, to educate children and adolescents about stress. DeStress for Success © is a 5-workshop program designed for children and teenagers to learn what stress is, how to recognize it, and how to cope with it in their lives. DeStress for Success builds on what the students already knows and provides them with the knowledge to recognize the ways in which stress affects the brain and body.

The program has been designed by researchers at the CSHS in close collaboration with school counselors, school nurses, social workers, teachers, children and teenagers.

The program focuses on five workshops that offer interactive and challenging activities.

The Destress for Success© training welcomes all professionals in the field of education, including teachers, school counselors, nurses, psychoeducators, school psychologists, directors and others. Following this training you will be able to teach children and adolescents what stress is, how to recognize it and how to adapt to it in life. It is a relatively short program, which can easily be implemented in a school setting.
