Develop Cuba Campaign
Event Information
Description
Hi Montreal StartUp Community
I’m reaching out to you today to talk about supporting an emerging startup community that I had the pleasure of meeting earlier this year.
Last June, while travelling in Havana, Cuba, I had the opportunity to meet Alejandro and Medreido, two software consultants born and raised in Cuba, and the two entrepreneurs leading the charge to organize Cuba’s startup community. In March 2015, they organized the country's very first tech meetup; 50 techies showed up to talk about building a local startup community and present projects they have been working on independently with the hopes of owning their own tech company.
The biggest challenge for Cubans, aside from finding a solid internet connection, is access to resources. Some of the things we take for granted, represent significant hurdles for them.
So I that we come together to help get them off the ground, a symbol of support from our growing community to their emerging community.
Here’s what we’re talking about: A community fundraiser to collect between $3,500-$4,000.
How will we use the funds?
