Event Information
Description
We're happy to announce we'll be hosting a massive DataNight to help a medley of stakeholders from the immigrant employment & attitudes sector!
We're setting out to discover what data can be used to realize: Canadian sentiment towards immigrants and immigration and what role the economic contributions of immigrants play in perceptions of immigration in Canada. Come ready to brainstorm and help come up with actionable plans, we will be sending out pre-reads in advance to prepare you for this intense night of brainstorming.

What is a DataNight??
It's when Data For Good calls upon Toronto's philanthropists to listen to registered charities and non-government agencies' organizational mission surrounding data. We then brainstorm what data we can gather to help them realize these goals.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Should I attend??
We're looking for data scientists, analysts, teachers, researchers, public policy experts, anthropologists, and informed citizens of Toronto who will listen to immigration issues our stakeholders would like to solve, then break into groups to brainstorm methods of data collection that could be used to solve those objectives.
This night is about vision. And we are looking for individuals with an impactful perspective, even if you have minimal data experience! You're going to meet and work with some amazing people in our city.

DETAILS
The central focus of the panel will be:
“What drives Canadians’ attitudes around immigration?, in order to develop the appropriate messaging to combat negativity and enhance positivity."
Each stakeholder will release their own questions related this central focus, and a detailed description will be sent to participants before the event to begin the thought-process. Come prepared, or come ready to enhance other's ideas!
After the DataNight, if opportunities arise where the stakeholder(s) and Data for Good concludes actionable insights could be generated through a DataThon... a DataThon will be organized to actually solve it!
