Description

The University of Guelph is hosting a series of 4-day workshops on topics related to digital humanities research and teaching from May 7-10, 2019.

All are welcome! Please read below for information on the workshops, instructors and registration.

Any workshops with insufficient enrollment by mid-April will be cancelled. For more information please email dhguelph@uoguelph.ca

(Each course runs daily for the full four days, so only one course may be taken in this session.)

  1. Computational digital humanities: Command-line fundamentals (David Birnbaum & Gabi Keane, University of Pittsburgh)

  2. Making Media Theory (Marcel O'Gorman and Jason Lajoie, University of Waterloo)

  3. Incorporating Elements of User Experience (UX) Design into your DH Project (Stephanie L. Grimes & Ike Obi, Ball State University)

  4. Digital Humanities Pedagogy: Transforming the Classroom (Diane Jakacki, Bucknell University)

  5. Text Encoding with TEI (Constance Crompton, University of Ottawa)

  6. Digital Editing Methods and Concepts (Nikolaus Wasmoen, University of Buffalo & Jennifer Stertzer, University of Virginia)

  7. Game on! Pedagogical gamification and internal data analytics in the classroom (Ahmed Yousef, Pennsylvania State University & Nahla Abusamra, Indiana University of Pennsylvania)

  8. Making Links: The Semantic Web for Humanities Scholars (Susan Brown & Kim Martin, University of Guelph)

  9. The Work that Stories Do in the World: Digital Storytelling for Research, Education, and Change (Carla Rice & Ingrid Mündel, University of Guelph)

Schedule

Each workshop will take place over 4 days (May 7-10) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Additional events will be planned outside of class time, including opening reception, keynote speaker, and optional social events (at individual cost). A detailed schedule will be posted closer to the date.

Registration Costs

Register before March 1st for EarlyBird Pricing! Workshops cost $50 more for students, and $100 more for faculty after this date.

Any workshops with insufficient enrollment by mid-April will be cancelled. For more information please email dhguelph@uoguelph.ca.

Please note the workshop registration period ends May 1st, 2019. Please ensure registration is complete before this time.
