Digital Futures Open Show 2017
Thu, 2 March 2017, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM EST
What is Digital Futures?
Digital Futures is an undergraduate and graduate program at OCAD University that combines creative approaches to emerging technologies and critical thinking to prototype possible futures. Digital Futures faculty and students are world leaders in physical computing, data visualization, digital entertainment, wearable technology, smart materials, music technology and games.
What is Digital Futures OPEN SHOW?
This year we are mounting our first annual Open Show. This is where we show our best and most interesting work that’s happening RIGHT NOW. The collection of work presented represents a survey of current ideas, concepts, theories, tools, trends being explored by the Digital Futures community. OPEN comes from the fact that this exhibition represents our whole community. It will include work from Digital Futures undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty.
When is it happening?
Opening Night*: Thursday, March 2nd, 5-8PM (RSVP here!)
Panel Discussion - "What is Digital Futures?": Friday, March 3rd, 2PM
Open Exhibition Hours: Friday, March 3rd and Saturday, March 2nd, 12-5PM
*At 6:30 PM on Opening Night we will have opening remarks followed by Obscure Spaces - a special performance by Adam Tindale (audio) and Afaq Ahmed Karadia (video). This projection mapped installation creates awareness of negative spatial environment through generative visualizations based on live electronic sounds. The performance is a step towards a language of interchange between auditory and visual perceptions aiming to bring focus to unfocused spaces.
This event is free and open to the public.
