Event description

Description

The Digital Literacy Summit is an event where various community partners and McMaster University researchers will meet to discuss projects that improve digital literacy among Hamiltonians.

We are inviting you to hear the ideas and projects that community partners will bring to the table and participate in debates and discussion around them.

What is Digitial Literacy?

Nowadays, people are surrounded by different types of digital devices and need sufficient digital and information skills to operate and utilize these devices. Digital literacy refers to the skills and know-how required by citizens to function and participate fully in today’s digital society. Your attendance at the Summit is needed to help figure out how to promote digital literacy skills and appreciation in Hamilton.

The Digital Literacy Lab

The Digital Literacy Summit is a deliverable the “Digital Literacy Social Lab” (DLSL) project carried out by the Community Campus CoLaboratory – a unit based out of the Master Office of Community Engagement. The Community Campus CoLaboratory is a social lab that connects community and campus partners in the Hamilton area who strive for an inclusive, collaborative and aligned approach to the resolution of social problems through impactful community-campus research and education initiatives. More information about the Community Campus CoLab can be found at https://www.communitycampuscolab.com

A project charter document for the DLSL project can be found here.
