Description

We are excited to have Dr. Zayani join us for Digital Middle East: The Unfulfilled Promise of the Information Revolution

Dr. Mohamed Zayani is Professor of Critical Theory and Director of the Media and Politics Program at Georgetown University. His most recent publication, Digital Middle East: State and Society in the Information Era (2018) sheds a critical light on the continuing changes closely intertwined with the adoption of information and communication technologies in the region. Drawing on case studies from throughout the Middle East, the book explores how these digital transformations are playing out in the social, cultural, political, and economic spheres, exposing the various disjunctions and discordances that have marked the advent of the digital Middle East.

We would like to respectfully acknowledge that the land this event takes place on is the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) nations.
