This practical and easy-to-follow workshop covers all the basics of how to use social media as part of a wider marketing strategy.

About this Event

Social media is a complex and challenging marketing tool for a lot of creatives, who find it hard to strike a balance between constantly talking about themselves and ignoring the platforms entirely! It can also feel impossible to know all there is to know, and stay up to date when technology is moving so quickly.

Key elements explored in this workshop include:

• understanding the power of social media;

• working out the basics of your online brand and marketing ‘personality’;

• understanding the concept of a social media ‘tribe’;

• choosing the right platform for your work, and your customers;

• how to avoid talking about yourself incessantly;

• tips and tricks on staying up to date ... and much more.

This workshop is ideal for recent graduates, freelancers, solo practitioners, established creative businesses and small arts organisations. It’s also relevant no matter what your creative profession, and all are welcome from screen, performing arts, design, visual arts, music and writing.

This workshop is open to anyone that lives, works, studies or plays in the City of Ryde.


Lillie Brown, Marketing Manager of Creative Plus Business

Lillie Brown is a freelance marketing strategist and Marketing Manager of the Creative Plus Business Group. Lillie works with small to medium creative businesses to devise and implement marketing and social media strategies that are easy for creative brains to digest. She walks clients through a comprehensive planning process to create simple to understand and actionable strategies to help them fulfil their vision. Prior to working with Creative Plus Business, Lillie was the Arts Administration Officer for Southern Tableland Arts. Lillie is also a renegade embroidery artist.


You will be emailed a link to the workshop registration and instructions about how to logon prior to this event. You’ll need access to a stable internet connection and a computer, laptop or tablet to participate in the workshop. We don’t recommend using a phone due to the small screen size.


This workshop is part of a series of free professionally run workshops teaching business skills to creatives in the City of Ryde. These workshops are an opportunity to get expert advice, meet other local creatives, and ask difficult questions in a supportive environment.
