Event description

Description

Introducing Disaster Forum 2018 Workshops!

The first one-day workshops will be held centrally in Edmonton (Oct 23) and Saskatoon (Oct 25). This event is designed to provide the high quality education and community building experience you've come to expect from Disaster Forum, but in a more easily accessible format.

Event Description

The Saskatoon event welcomes keynote speaker Fire Chief Brian Starkell, who led the town of Nipawin’s mutual aid support of the Tisdale and Humboldt Fire Departments in their response to the horrific bus crash that ultimately took the lives of 16 members of the Humboldt Broncos hockey team in April 2018.

After the keynote address, workshop participants will break into groups to practice real-world emergency scenarios with the Incident Command System. They will have their choice of two areas of focus:

  • Incident Action Plan (IAP)

  • The Planning Section

This training will allow you to take ICS techniques you’ve learned previously to the next level, by transforming them into practical hands-on skills.
