ABOUT THE DISCOVER SERIES

Discover the world of wine, spirits and beer in this event series led by industry hosts. In each week of the series, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from a different expert and experience a guided tasting of unique products they’ve selected.

WEEK 1: Wednesday, October 4
Everything You Wanted to Know About NS Craft Cider
Hosts: Jay Hildybrant & Janine Radul, Planter's Ridge

Cider history, cider around the world, and a Q&A with cider maker Jay Hildybrant. Jay Hildybrant is currently the cider maker for Chain Yard Cider in Halifax, and is a cider consultant for Planter's Ridge Winery. He also owns his own cider consultant business called Cider Works, and was the Head Cider Maker at Bulwark for two years.

WEEK 2: Wednesday, October 11
Stay tuned for more details on this session!

WEEK 3: Wednesday, October 18
The (Un)traditional Autumn Beers of Boxing Rock Brewing Co.

Hosts: Emily Tipton & Henry Pedro, Beer Engineers / Co-Founders, Boxing Rock Brewing Co.
What makes an autumn beer? Do seasonal beers have to follow the seasons? Learn all about autumn seasonal beer varieties, then challenge that information. This fits with the Boxing Rock Brewing Co's tag line that our products are both Legendary and (un)traditional, helping customers to think outside the box and have fun learning and trying NS Craft Beer.

WEEK 4: Wednesday, October 25
Unfiltered, Unpasteurized, Unbelievably Good Beer

Host: Jeremy White, Founder and Alesmith of Big Spruce Brewing Co.
Since the beginning, Big Spruce has focused on using as many local ingredients as possible, which includes hops grown on their farm, and their own water which is rich in mineral content, and particularly suited for hoppy and dark beer styles. Learn more about this certified organic brewery in a session with its Founder and Alesmith Jeremy White, a champion of the craft beer movement in Nova Scotia.
