Description

The Spiritual Teacher

In this course we will investigate the role of the teacher on the spiritual path: the need for a teacher, the qualities of a teacher, the qualities of a student, and how to relate to a teacher for greatest benefit in one’s spiritual life. We will consider the challenges we face when thinking of entering into a guru-disciple relationship and learn how to overcome these skillfully. This course comprises of teachings, discussions, short meditations and readings.

This is the fourth course in a 14 part series introducing Buddhist meditation and philosophy, called “Discovering Buddhism” offered by the Western Buddhist organization called the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT).
You are welcome to join in at any time and do not need any previous experience in Buddhism to participate in and benefit from this course. As the Dalai Lama says:
"Don't try to use what you learn from Buddhism to be a better Buddhist; use it to be a better whatever-you-already-are."

*****Please note that David Gould will be facilitationg the Feb 25 by distance via a Zoom meeting.
