This special meeting has been created in response to the varying information/mis-information for job seekers -Richard Bucher will provide guidance to "debunk the myths"

This group meeting is 2 hours to allow for additional Q&A and discussion with Career Transition Expert Richard Bucher.

Coffee/tea and refreshments will be provided!

Richard is a thought leader and subject matter expert in career management, has been a regular contributor to CBC’s Calgary Eyeopener, Alberta at Noon, Global TV, Calgary Re-Engage Series as well as the Global Petroleum show and a published author. He leads the Career Transition practice for Optimum Talent.

Three Takeaways:

1. Learn how to KNOW what’s the right thing to do including:

a. Resume length

b. Cover letter or no cover letter

c. Salary question – give a number – don’t give a number

d. Engage HR – forget HR

e. Apply for jobs – don’t apply for jobs

f. Must be a perfect fit or now

g. Too old

2. Learn how to get my resume read

3. Learn how to knock it out of the park in interviews

This meeting is open to first-timers to Laid Off Calgary and also familiar faces.

Group size is capped to 20 participants for this meeting.

Laid Off Calgary meetings provide connection, support and empowerment during these economically challenged times.The ask of you is that you register in advance (here in eventbrite) and note that in the Laid Off Calgary meetings we respect confidentiality and time of each other, we are non-judgemental, we listen, and we share from our own experiences.

With peer support participants can learn from others facing similar issues, feel more connected to others, pick up interpersonal skills and internalize lessons.


Do I need to attend every session?

You can choose what meetings to attend for when it suits your schedule. If you need to cancel just let us know ahead of time (you can log back into eventbrite if you provided an email/password when registering for a meeting, and/or you can email to let us know if you need to cancel). We ask that if you attend that you please arrive just prior to the meeting and stay for the full duration to ensure that you and other participants get the most out of the session.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

On street parking at the library. Public transport options are available. Note: free parking after 6pm.

Do I need to print my ticket?

No need to print. We ask that you do register to secure a seat as we have limited space to make for the most optimum experience for everyone.
