Event Details

After last year’s successful conference on Diversity & Inclusion, this year the CIMA Conference will focus on Disruption. We will discuss the different types of disruption facing today’s businesses; from digital disruption, black swans, exponential technologies, workforce/demographic shifts and the increasingly VUCA nature of the world, and what you can do to protect against these.

Keynote Speaker

David

David McLean
Founder of the McLean Group and former Chair of CN Rail

One of the most distinguished Canadian business leaders of his time, David has been the driving force behind highly successful businesses in aviation, film studios, real estate development, and communications.
David was the one to lead the privatization of CN at the request of the Canadian government, a controversial and bold move at the time.  The $2.26 billion CDN initial public offering was at the time the largest ever in Canadian history. Since 1995, the stock has appreciated in value approximately 1400%. CN is also the most profitable freight railway in North America.
Alongside the CN management team and the Board of Directors, David transformed the company from a traditional “Canada only” railway company into a leader in innovation in transportation across North America.
Following the speaker, a panel of leading business figures will discuss how organizations can identify, address and even leverage disruption to achieve their strategy and continue to be relevant in a changing landscape.
The conference will take place on Thursday October 19th, 2017, from 1:00pm – 5:15pm, followed by a cocktail reception. In keeping with our commitment to professional development and community engagement, the conference will be held at the Toronto Public Library, a unique cultural space standing proudly in the heart of Toronto.
