Diversity: A Flavourful Fundraiser for Glenora Rotary Projects at Home and...
Wed, 17 May 2017, 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM MDT
On May 17th, the Rotary Club of Edmonton Glenora is holding our annual fundraising event, DIVERSITY, to support our work for children and families at home and abroad. Last year our event included dozens of exceptional live and silent auction items, amazing food and great networking.
How the evening will go:
5:30 Doors open and silent auction opens
6:00 Opening welcome from our President, Donna Ducommun
6:30 Official program begins with MC, Mark Connolly
- Guest speakers: Eric Ambtman, Executive Director, Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers
7:00 Live auction begins with Nick and Gerri Gelych from Spectrum Auctioneering
7:45 Wine Raffle and staggered closing of Silent Auction Tables.
Proceeds from the Diversity event will also be used to support Syrian families who now live in Edmonton and families who continue to arrive to help transition to their new community. Working in partnership with the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers, the proceeds will provide opportunities for social and community engagement, equine therapy, emergency relief funds and meet other community needs as they arise.
Proceeds will also go to Rotary’s Adopt a Village project in St. Helene, Honduras. This is a partnership between Rotary and local leadership in Honduras, contributing to the long term sustainability and prosperity of the community. The project includes a playground which is already completed, providing access to clean water and an education project that will help develop curriculums for the community. These changes will profoundly change the lives of the residents of St. Helene.
