Join Dr. Karen Dickson for a webinar on diversity in health research. This webinar will promote better understanding of contemporary sexism and gender bias, particularly within the context of health research. The characteristics and impact of conscious and unconscious sexism and gender bias will be discussed. Strategies and actions for improving sex and gender diversity and inclusion in health research will be outlined.
Dr. Karen Dickson completed her PhD in Psychology at Western University, researching prejudice and discrimination and then conducted postdoctoral research focused on recognition of and responses to contemporary sexism and gender discrimination. She also taught an undergraduate course on the Psychology of Diversity. She then worked in the Women’s Policy Office of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador as a Senior Policy Analyst for the Violence Prevention Initiative. She is currently a Health Policy Analyst with Quality of Care NL.
