Event description

Description

People love smelly laundry but the scary thing is that its your laundry room that causes the most pollution to the air inside your home. Studies have looked at what chemicals are “released” by laundry products, like dryer sheets, fabric softener etc. since manufacturers don't have to disclose the ingredients used in them. One study found more than 25 “volatile” air pollutants — including carcinogens, acetaldehyde and benzene. Another, found the fumes to cause irritation of eyes, nose, throat, and lungs.

Yup you read that right.

Because laundry-care product manufacturers are not required to list all laundry detergent ingredients on packaging, it can be difficult for consumers to make informed choices. The term “fragrance” alone may refer to a combination of several hundred laundry chemicals including many that are hazardous. Laundry detergents are often derived from petrochemicals and contain synthetic fragrances, even when advertised as “fragrance-free.”

Your laundry room doesnt have to be this way though! We noticed a HUGE difference when we swtiched over. Our skin got nicer (my eczema disapeared), and Ive noticed were not as stuffy on a regular basis. Coincidence? Maybe. But the biggest thing for us was the cost. Its only $50 to make an entire 5 gallon pail of laundry soap. That was enough to last us over a year, and weve learned to use it for EVERYTHING. I bathe my dogs in it, we have shampooed carpets, and even used in place of dish soap when needed. So give it a shot because you have nothing to lose but your health to gain.
