Description
Cinevolution Media Art Society’s 6th annual DocuAsia film and forum program turns its lens on expanded notions of ‘Asia’ by taking Syria as our topic of focus. Amidst an ongoing brutal civil war, we see glimpses into the lives of Syrians whose personal narratives speak to the dire conditions that continue to be faced by millions at home and abroad.
Through these documentaries, short films, animations, as well as live music and post-screening panels, we see Syrian filmmakers and artists whose very survival and need for hope depends on self-expression through the arts and other means. As the state of things for Syrians continues to deteriorate, DocuAsia seeks to open up critical discourse and dialogue on the global implications and the urgency of the Syrian crisis.
