About this event
Join us to learn about Domestic Violence in our Muslim Community and become an ally for change. We will be exploring:
- What is domestic violence?
- How does domestic violence look in Muslim families?
- Cultural & religious myths and misconceptions
- What you can do to help
We will be joined by:
Moona Khan, MSW, RSW Mental Health Therapist Topic: “Dissecting Domestic Violence and Mental Health from a Social Work lens”
Wedad Amiri, Entrepreneur/Owner Afflatus HijabTopic: Wedad Amiri is the founder of a local clothing line called Afflatus Hijab. Her line focuses on women empowerment and de-stigmatizing mental illnesses through her clothes. She will be speaking about the importance of mental health when it comes to women and how her clothes play a big role in that.
