Event description

Description

The workshop is part of a three-stage project in collaboration with the Thunder Bay and District Coordinating Committee to End Woman Abuse and the Safe & Together Institute. The two-day workshop will be facilitated by Heidi Rankin, associate director of the Safe & Together Institute. Heidi has has over 25 years experience in the fields of sexual and domestic violence and child maltreatment. She has worked in crisis counseling, program and policy development and advocacy in both in the United States and Canada. Heidi received a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in domestic violence from University of Colorado, the only program of its kind in the United States.

The workshop will focus on domestic violence (woman abuse) informed practices, which will be guided by stage two of the project, a self assessment survey which was completed by member agencies of TBDCCEWA earlier in the year. The workshop will look critically at the underlying structural issues that support our service gaps, and guide agencies to develop proficient DV informed practices to meet the needs of the communities we serve. The sessions will work to provide baseline information about domestic violence proficiency and help inform organizational and systems needs including training, practice guidelines, policies, protocols, and supervisory practices, among others.
