FILM VIEWING ~ of the Play Written and performed by Don Burnstick "I AM ALCOHOL"

I Am Alcohol is a video portrayal of a man’s painful journey as he battles alcohol, loneliness and fear. It evokes a powerful and strong message that everyone should see.

Written and performed by Don Burnstick, the play highlights one man’s use of Native culture and tradition to win back his freedom, dignity and self-respect. By calling upon the warriors of his people to join him in fighting the insidious battle against alcohol, he is ultimately able to heal his wounded spirit.

DISCUSSION

After the viewing there will be a discussion with some leading questions and an opportunity for community to share struggles, advocacy efforts and support services.

FUNDRAISER

I am a Coast Salish woman from Tsartlip, BC and an alumni of Douglas College. I have been working in the social service field for over 10 years and I have committed myself to advocacy for people with mental health, addiction, homelessness and fleeing domestic violence. I would like to turn my efforts to local politics and this is to fund my run for Port Coquitlam City Council election coming October 2018.
