If you're curious to find out what goes on behind the scenes of the Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth, then join us for Doors Open YYC on Saturday, September 23, 2017! Our Stampede volunteers will take you behind the scenes of the histortic Grandstand where guests will take in the view from the Eye in the Sky, see where The Young Canadian's get ready under the stage and feel the adrenaline as you tour the Rodeo Infield. In addition, there will be an exciting animal element and a free breakfast will be served at the entrance to the Grandstand!

Event details:

There are 10 tours taking place between 10 a.m - 4:30 p.m. that are approximately two hours long. The last tour will leave at 2:30 p.m. Attendees are enncouraged to pre-register to reserve their spot.


Free Parking will be provided if you are attending the event. Please let the parking attendant know that you are attending Doors Open YYC. Bicycle racks will also be provided directly outside of the Grandstand building.


A free breakfast will be available at the entrance to the Grandstand while supplies last. Please note that we cannot accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions.


Restrooms are located on the main floor of the Grandstand building, your tour guide will direct you.


This tour consists of a lot of walking, climbing stairs and uneven ground. Participants are asked to wear appropriate footwear.


Why does the Calgary Stampede participate in Doors Open YYC?

The Calgary Stampede is a community-focused organization that provides a gathering place for the community year-round. We welcome the opportunity to invite our community to come and learn and explore our rich history and celebrate our western heritage.

How long is the tour?

Each tour will last approximately two hours.

Do I need a ticket to attend the event?

Pre-registration is strongly recommended. There are a few spots available for those who do not reserve online.

What should I keep in mind when visiting animals on the tour?

Please listen to your tour guide and be respectful of the animals. During the tour guests are asked to follow the instructions of the Rodeo committee.

What should I wear?

Guests are reminded to dress appropriately for the weather and wear close-toed shoes.
