Event description

Description

Downtown Dogs Clinic

This course is for dogs who have already completed a basic obedience training course, such as Polite Pooches, and would like to continue to work on increasing their dog’s skills. It can be difficult to take skills taught in a controlled classroom setting and apply them to everyday situations out and about with your dog. Summer Clinics will take place at different locations around Calgary to allow for different experiences and generalization of skills. This class will build on foundation behaviours covered in our Polite Pooches curriculum, and continue to focus on instructing owners how to teach their canine with “marker-based” training.

Requirements: Dogs must be spayed or neutered, over 6 months of age and must have up-to-date vaccinations. They must have completed a basic obedience class, preferably Polite Pooches or Smarty Pups. Your dog must be calm and sociable around other dogs; not reactive. Examples of reactive behaviours: raised hackles, barking, lunging, growling, cowering, etc. (If your dog demonstrates these behaviours, skip to reactive dog classes)

Downtown Dogs

40 non-members, $34 for CHS members, seniors, dogs rescued from shelters/rescue organizations (including CHS, Animal Services, ARF, etc.) Classes run for 55 minutes, one hour each time. Fees are non-refundable.
