About this event
Renowned public speaker and musician Dr. Mike Daley presents The Everly Brothers Story with Will Reid (vocals) and Jill Daley (violin/piano). Mike is known across the GTA for his highly entertaining and informative talks on popular music history. Jill Daley is a full-time musician at Canada's National Ballet School and, like Mike, is part of the music staff at Redeemer. Will Reid is an accomplished and versatile singer who has worked with the Nathaniel Dett Chorale, Mendelssohn Choir and Yasgur's Farm. Will brought down the house last month in our Simon and Garfunkel show and we're thrilled to work with him again on The Everly Brothers Story.
In this entertaining and informative show, you'll learn about the brothers' upbringing in Kentucky singing with their musical family, their 1950s breakthrough with hits like "Bye Bye Love" and "Wake Up Little Susie," their career downturn in the sixties culminating in an acrimonious on-stage breakup in 1973, and their triumphant reunion in the 1980s. We'll perform classic songs like "All I Have To Do Is Dream," "Bird Dog" and "Cathy's Clown."
Church of the Redeemer is a spacious and comfortable 1879 church with excellent sightlines and acoustics. It is conveniently located in Yorkville, close to Bay and Museum subway stations, ample parking and fine restaurants.
