Hand Drawn Animation Workshop

About this event

Drawn Animation In- Person Workshop

Join the Art Gallery of Regina's Summer Art Educator, Emily Nestor, to create hand drawn animations inspired by the AGR's exhibition Linda Simpson: The Drag Explosion.

Working from prompting questions inspired by The Drag Explosion, participants will start by a creating storyboards to inform their final 30 second animation. Participants will be asked to consider how love, pain, resistance, nostalgia, pride can be visually depicted.

After the completion of their storyboards, participants will then use their smartphones or tablets to shoot and produce their animations. Animations will be finished using online editing platforms and each participant will leave with their own animation and an introduction to the animated arts.

The AGR supplies all drawing and paper materials for this workshop but participants are asked to bring their own smartphone or tablets. As this workshop is informed by The Drag Explosion exhibition participants will be engaging in discussion and visual imagery that contains smoking, drinking, club scenes, drag, and non-sexual nudity. The drawn animation workshop is suited to adults, youth, children over 12, and children under 12 when accompanied by an adult
