Event description

Description

Dream Home is a site-specific audio walk which explores the loss, longing, and hope of leaving behind a home. Audience members listening to MP3 players will be guided one at a time through the Branscombe House and yard, pausing to hear memories unfold in each room. The recorded stories of Richmond community members with diverse experiences of leaving behind their own homes, from immigration to travel to homelessness and housing instability, are interwoven into the piece. This intimate and haunting experience will attempt to honour and share the memories left behind in every vacated home, as well as invite audience members to join as witness to artist-in-residence Keely O'Brien's own goodbye gesture to Branscombe House after a year long residency.

Details:

This audio walk is performed for one audience member at a time. When you select your ticket, you will select the time slot that you would like to individually attend the performance.

Running time: 60 minutes

Dream Home is a unique immersive performance which uses headphones and travels throughout Branscombe house and yard, and uses stairs. We will have a wheelchair accessible version available which uses a first-person-perspective film of the walk to allow audience members to participate from downstairs. If you have questions about accessibility, please email keely.rois.obrien@gmail.com for details about the experience, and for how we can make this performance work for you.
