Event Information
Description
THIS IS ONE SPECIAL and DYNAMIC concert you do not want to miss.
The Fifth Annual Concert of Duke Ellington's Sacred Music featuring the inimatable DEE DANIELS, MARCUS MOSELY and a star- studded cast including FRED STRIDE, LOUISE ROSE, ALEX DUGDALE and many others will burst onto the stage at beautiful St. Andrew's-Welsey United Church on November 14, 2013.
DUKE ELLINGTON is best remembered as perhaps the finest and most influential composer in the history of American jazz. He was also a man of deep spiritual convictions, and late in his career, he wrote several suites of inspritational music that blended his peerless tonal artistry with the celebratory energy of classic gospel music.
The fascinating world of jazz has yet to be fully embraced by the Chirstian culture. To be sure, gospel music, or music of the Christian Church, has had a profound musical impact on many jazz and pop singers, musical groups and their audiences. This concert is a celebration of the best of both worlds, gospel and jazz and the faith-home from which Duke Ellington was inspired.
Suitable for music-lovers of all ages, this concert will inspire you, arouse you, and rock your world.
