Story Summary

Stranger Than Fiction: Summer '87

Summer vacation in 1987 is gearing up to be one of the best. No school, no curfews, long days, warm nights, and nothing to do but hangout at the local strip mall and binge watch movie rentals from Blockbuster. For the teenagers of Cardendale, Illinois, it is business as usual. After all, nothing really exciting ever happens in the home of the Cardendale Coyotes. That is all true, or was true, until the Byers family moves into town.

Soon enough, family pets start turning up dead and the adults are baffled. On the night of "The Lost Boys" film release, a high school senior is found outside of the movie theater with his throat torn open. The Scoobies, six life-long friends and avid Dungeons and Dragon players, witness a freaked-out Will Byers being dragged from the scene by Elle, a weird girl with a weird name. Knowing a mystery when they see one, the gang heads off to uncover the truth and quickly discover that sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. As the world turns upside down, it will take all of them to try to figure out how to save the town before whatever happened back in Hawkins, Indiana, happens to Cardendale.
