Event description
Documentary filmmaker, Dylan Reade, shares his ongoing research for a 3D film on the history of settlement in the Edmonton District.

About this Event

Reconstructing Precolonial Settlement in the Edmonton District

The conventional "founding narratives" of the Edmonton and St. Albert river lot settlements are obstacles, blocking the path to a clearer understanding of the much earlier roots of permanent settlement in the west.

Against a rich backdrop of high-resolution maps, graphics and archival images, Dylan Reade explores the flaws in our foundational myths of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Backwards in Time is a visual depiction of research which maps out a strategy for moving through and beyond those obstacles to broadly reconstruct the earliest communities of the Edmonton District.

Admission is free, donations are welcome.
