Simple, elegant and beautiful technique.

  • Saturday December 8, 9:30am-4pm
  • Sunday December 9, 9:30am-4pm

Learn a wonderfully forgiving charcoal removal technique wile you gain an understanding of adult facial features and proportions.

Using one of the most simple and elegant of all drawing materials, charcoal, you will learn to draw a portrait in a time honored approach to portraiture.

Learn how to accomplish a most intricate, traditional portrait. Not to worry beginners - there will be an overview of the basics before we begin in earnest. We will be using the simple, elegant, and forgiving charcoal removal technique.

The Subtractive drawing technique consists of toning a piece of white bond paper with a large stick of vine charcoal, and then both drawing into and erasing into the charcoal in a lovely back and forth dance until the desired degree of finish is achieved. Simple, elegant, almost meditative and the best of all, it's VERY forgiving.

Instructor Bio: Lori Lukasewich is a professional fine artist and art instructor.
