Description

Note: This course has two in-person classes on March 2 and March 23, 2015. There will be online work during the duration of the course.

This course is an intensive introduction on the breadth and depth of using e-simulation and e-blended learning for healthcare education.

Content and experiential exercises will be offered in person and online, highlighting the essential elements of these modalities. Participants will develop improved understanding, attitudes and skills for the use of different forms of e-simulation and e-blended learning for enhancing clinical teaching and learning as stand-alone methods and connection to other forms of simulation.

By the end of the course, participants should be familiar with and/or experience the following topics:

E-101:

Learn the essentials of e-simulation and e-blended learning, including benefits and when it's optimal to use.

Rosetta Stone:

Learn all the various terms and lingo used in the field of e-simulation.

Cybernaut Projects:

Explore the virtual environment through an online project, synchronous meeting places and other cyber forums. Participants will also create a virtual case, journey through Second Life, complete MindSight, and much more.

The E-Simulationist:

Design virtual project plans, including storyboards, templates and content design. Participants will also learn about managing the costs of an e-learning project.
