Welcome Parents and Caregivers!
The Toronto District School Board is proud to announce that an Early Years Summit will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Winston Churchill Collegiate Institute. We are inviting parents to attend this free conference.
Parents and caregivers will be able to attend workshops to celebrate and learn about the early years, the most critical period of learning and development of children. Parents and caregivers will become aware of the learning and developmental opportunities that they can provide their children at home. Hand in hand, families, educators and the wider community can work together to improve the lives and wellbeing of all of our children.
We are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker is Itah Sadu, who is a phenomenal storyteller and an award-winning author of several books for children. Dedicated to community service, Ms. Sadu has worked for many years to engage students and youth in programs that educate, challenge, and promote personal growth and development. She is also the co-owner of A Different Booklist–- a successful independent bookstore located in Toronto, providing multicultural books that focus on the experience of the African & Caribbean diaspora.
Asling Discoveries: Child and Family Centre, Malvern Family Resource Centre, Toronto Public Library (McGregor Park Branch), Toronto Public Health, Ontario Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Speech Pathologists, Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario, Catholic Crosscultural Services, Ontario Early Years Center (Scarborough East) and other agencies will all hold exhibitions and we encourage parents and caregivers to visit them.
Snacks and a light lunch will be served during this Summit. Childcare for children who are three years or older will be provided. Transportation will also be made available, please sign up for bus pick up if you require it. There is free parking on the premises.
