CANCELLED *** Celebrate Earth Day on the Northumberland Shore!

About this Event

**** CANCELLED ****

In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic and provincial guidelines, the Clean Coasts team has decided to postpone our entire spring coastal restoration workshop series.

Our senior management team continues to monitor the outbreak of COVID-19 and is following the recommendations and guidance from the Chief Public Health Officer of Nova Scotia. We will reevaluate our rescheduling options, including future dates and potential webinar opportunities, on Monday, March 22.

We’ve been very excited to offer our spring coastal restoration workshop series to North Shore communities, so we look forward to future rescheduling opportunities that will continue to support public health and safety.

For updates on Clean Coasts’ Northumberland Strait Coastal Restoration Project, go to www.saltmarshes.ca and sign up for our quarterly newsletter and notifications about rescheduled workshops and upcoming volunteer opportunities!

Wishing you good health from all of us at Clean Foundation.

**** ORIGINAL EVENT INFORMATION

This Earth Day, join Clean and our co-host, Friends of the Pugwash Estuary, for this exciting coastal restoration workshop!

Using Clean’s Northumberland Strait Coastal Restoration Project as an example, this public event will cover saltmarsh restoration basics, lessons learned from Clean’s fall 2019 culvert-to-bridge restoration site, and other techniques that Clean hopes to employ at two restoration sites in 2020.

Workshop participants will be able to try out a cutting edge virtual reality experience and explore Clean’s new interactive online atlas of potential restoration sites across the North Shore!

Free to attend and open to all, reserve your place in advance here.Clean’s Northumberland Strait Coastal Restoration Project is funded by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s Coastal Restoration Fund.

The project aims to restore up to 15 hectares of salt marsh habitat in the North Shore while working to increase local communities’ capacity to improve their coastal resilience through workshops, volunteer opportunities, and open access to the project’s technical data.

This Cumberland Region Coastal Restoration Workshop is one of four workshops Clean is offering across the North Shore counties to empower communities to increase their capacity to implement future coastal restoration goals and foster coastal resilience in the Northumberland Strait region of mainland Nova Scotia.

Our public engagement team is monitoring the outbreak of COVID-19 and is following the recommendations and guidance from the Chief Public Health Officer. Workshop cancellation due to public health and safety or inclement weather will be made public via Clean’s Facebook and Twitter @CleanFoundation and will be submitted to your local radio station.
