Event description

Description

Mother Earth is suffering and our future is at stake. Our current modern world has lost and forgotten the wisdom that lineages all over the world have carried and passed down to ensure the survival of the next generation. We are now in a climate crisis, many species are at risk of extinction, and the next generations hold an unpredictable future.

EARTH WISDOM invites us to remember the values shared by ancient cultures that support life-sustaining choices. EARTH WISDOM welcomes you to an inter-generational gathering of people from many cultures, traditions, and faiths to affirm a collective vision for an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence on this planet.

Wisdom keepers from around the world will share how their traditional practices honour the Earth and can empower the Human Family to meet the challenges of an uncertain future. We will come to remember the Earth Wisdom that all of our ancestors have been connected to, and that has ensured our survival for this long.

*Interactive experiential processes will create interpersonal connections and awaken our remembering.

*A collective ceremony will unite us in our vision.

*An embodied dance will strengthen our dynamic community in a celebration for life.

This gathering is taking place on the traditional, unceded homelands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Darrell Bob

Darrell BobDarrell Bob is a leader, spiritual and Indigenous teacher, and member of the Xaxli'p Community, St'at'imc Nation, Lilooet, BC. Darrell feels fortunate to have been raised by his grandparents on a small farm in Lilooet, BC with the teachings of the Old Ones and their language and knowledge of their way of life. In 2006 Darrell became a leader of his community where he received his most significant teachings about the importance of the lands of his people. He was taught to look at the whole territory when he made a decision and not just the narrow scope of an initiative. The Elders always reminded him that what you do to one you do to all which includes our Mother Earth! "Being stewards of the land, it is our responsibility to look after Her and nurture Her to the best of our ability so that She can continue to provide for us!"

MEDICINE FOX
Medicine Fox

Shane Wilson grew up around many artists and family members who came from rich cultural traditions from around the world, which became his inspiration.
"Around the world, there is a global culture of tribal traditions that stretch back into the time before history. From this time there are many musical instruments and techniques that have been passed down, to help the wanderer to awaken to higher levels of consciousness and for spirit journeys."
Medicine Fox uses technology to fuse sampled sounds with the warmth and organic qualities of live percussion, vocals and instruments creating a new body for an ancient soul. His music is dedicated to the messengers of peace, and to the second voice, the voice of the heart, the voice of love.
