Event description

Description

Eat Alberta is a one-day culinary conference where you learn and participate in a variety of hands-on cooking classes, taught by some of Alberta’s best culinary minds. For the day, you will be surrounded by some of Alberta’s finest chefs, local products and cuisine, learning how to prepare unique dishes with ingredients produced right here in the province, and mingling with the top of our culinary scene.

Our line up this year has been finalized, and includes:

Blair Lebsack: Chef/ Owner, RGE RD

Elyse Chatterton: Chef/ Butcher (teaching offal)

Sarah Louise Foster: Baker/Owner, Blue Rose Baking Co. (teaching vegan comfort food)

Steven Brochu: Chef, Chartier (teaching a bread workshop)

Each of these presenters will be offering their interpretation of our theme "More With Less" in two sessions. When purchasing tickets you will choose the two presenters you wish to see most, and - pending availability - you will be placed in either their first or second session.

Limited tickets are available, and sessions are determined on a first come, first served basis.

Theme: More with Less

Our world can be one of excess. From expensive ingredients that you only used once, to recipes that require literal hours, to over-indulging when the meal finally does hit the table, who couldn't use a breath of simplicity? Eat Alberta aims to take a step back, and re-focus our thoughts on food. By finding new uses for the items you already buy or exploring less common ingredients, you can cook some creative dishes, while reducing food waste and potentially your grocery bill. The 2018 conference centers around moderation: using what you really need, and making every drop count.

Details

You will spend your day at the NAIT Hokansan Centre for Culinary Arts. We begin around 10.30 AM with a delicious brunch prepared by NAIT chefs, accompanied by various unique products provided by small scale local producers.

Guests of this event will then attend two 90-minute workshops of their choosing. The workshops will be hands-on, and led by local figures from Edmonton's food scene. Every session will offer a different take on the theme More with Less. Early bird ticket holders will receive first-dibs access to the sessions, so buy now or follow our social media to see the line up when it is released.

We wrap up around 5.00 PM and look back on our busy day of cooking and learning with locally crafted drinks and snacks.
