Welcome (or welcome back!) to our series of Healthy Cooking Classes!

  • We have an exciting lineup of healthy cooking classes!

  • All classes are offered in our beautiful new Learning Kitchen at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in the Kitsilano neighbourhood of Vancouver.

  • Thanks to our last participants for the feedback! We're listening...Our classes are now smaller, for more ease of hands-on food preparation.

  • The Eating Clean series runs seasonally, with seasonal variations of recipes. For other classes, check out our upcoming Holistic Enrichment Series.

Does your gut need some love and attention?

With so many conflicting fad diets, health advice and 'miracle cures' out there, no wonder that it can be completely overwhelming to know how to eat and what to cook if you suffer from all-too-common digestive issues! What all of these complaints can often be traced back to is not only the food you eat, but also the health of the digestive system as a whole. Learn how to make bone broth, incorporate fermented vegetables and combine foods for optimal digestion.

In this class, you will be introduced to the basic concepts behind creating delicious and healthy raw desserts. Now you can have your cake and eat it too! We'll be incorporating superfoods maca, hemp hearts, coconut oil and more into our decadent creations!

Fermented Foods: Probiotic vegetables

Fermented vegetables are making waves with a massive revival! Only a few years ago, many thought that yogurt had the market cornered for foods that are probiotic, but the humble, traditional, tangy side-dishes of sauerkraut, kimchi and even fermented pickles are making a big 'ol comeback! Join the fermentation revolution!

Next-level Grains and Beans: Soaking, sprouting and fermenting

March 6

Healthy diet is not only what you eat, but HOW you prepare it! The practice of soaking sprouting and fermenting grains and beans is vital to ensure that you are getting the most out of your beans, lentils and grains.

Sample menu:

  • Dosas (lentil and rice sourdough crepes)
  • Raw green curry noodle bowl with sprouted mung beans
  • Versatile beans and grain bowl

Wild and Cultured: Fermented Beverages ( Kombucha, ginger beer and herbal sodas!)

These traditional fermented beverages have used to aid digestion and as health tonics.

In this fun and popular class, discover how to make:

  • Old fashioned (wild!) ginger beer
  • Liver-loving ‘Roots’ Beer (root beer with medicinal herbs!)
  • Kombucha (a popular fermented tea beverage) and go home with your own kombucha starter to make it at home! Cleansing ‘love your liver’ herbal variations too!

Very Veggie: Beyond boring salads!

How to get more nutrient dense veggies- deliciously! Whether you are vegetarian, eating less meat or just wanting to increase your nutrient-density by getting more plants in your diet...

FAQs

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

By purchasing a ticket you automaticlly agree that you are at least 18 years old.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

There is metered street parking on Broadway and some free parking on 8th, 7th and 6th (to the north of the location). Watch signs carefully and please don't park in residential/permit only parking! There are some spots for non-residents on 8th ave.

There's bike parking right outside the front door. The 99 bus route goes to Arbutus, it's a 4 minute walk from there.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Please bring an apron, sensible kitchen shoes (closed toed) and a pen. We supply everything else.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

That depends on how far in advance you cancel... best to read our refund and cancellation policy

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. We just need your name.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

So long as the person who's name is on it has contacted me (the organizer) and gotten the OK to transfer it to you, that's fine.
