Disordered Eating 2: How COVID-19 isolation & re-opening impacts a disorder

About this event

Join our live workshop as Kenzie Osborne (Anorexia Speaker) and Jordana Rovet (MSW) discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic increased the prevalence of eating disorders and the challenges of a post-COVID world. Find out how you can support those suffering through this time of re-opening and recovery.

In this session, you will learn:

- The impact of isolation on mental health and disordered eating patterns

- Post-COVID challenges for those suffering and/or recovering from eating disorders

- Strategies for supporting loved ones through re-opening

Kenzie Osborne (she/her) is an anorexia speaker, mental health advocate, culinary nutritionist, and certified health and wellness coach. Kenzie is keen to support others through building a healthy relationship with nutritious food so they can feel confident in their bodies and support their physical and mental wellbeing. Kenzie has years of experience developing recipes and coaching clients through a program she co-created for Dr. David Ludwig and the Always Hungry? Program. In addition, Kenzie has culinary nutrition experience developing recipes and coaching clients in various demographics including: professional and high performance athletes, adults struggling with weight loss, individuals with gut-related challenges, individuals with complicated dietary needs (restrictions and intolerances), families with complex lifestyle challenges (budget, time, children, etc.), and older adults with dysphagia. In her spare time, Kenzie engages in public speaking and outreach projects to share her recovery story from anorexia nervosa and works to inspire the community to build a positive and nourishing relationship with food and health to benefit overall physical and mental wellbeing. You can follow Kenzie on instagram @chefkenzieosborne and visit her website at kenzieosborne.com

Jordana Rovet (she/her) is a registered social worker with a Master's degree in Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University. Jordana has over 10 years of experience working alongside individuals who struggle with mental health and substance use challenges both as a program coordinator and walk-in therapist. Her philosophy to programming and clinical work stems from a harm reduction and a Narrative Therapy approach which seeks not to individualize people's suffering, but takes into account the social and political context in which people's lives are embedded. Jordana emphasizes the importance of person-centred care and positioning those she works with as the experts of their own lives. Jordana works at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health as the co-coordinator of the Collaborative Learning College, an education and training program led by and for people with lived experience of mental health and substance use challenges. Beyond work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her miniature dachshund, reading, listening to music and cycling.
