The World Trade Centre Toronto is organizing a workshop and trade mission to China for eCommerce companies.

About this event

This is a unique opportunity for Canadian brands that are seeking to expand into Asia and want to learn more about the challenges and opportunities that are present when entering.

Why Asia?

• Asia has the world’s largest internet population and has surged in the use of mobile payments, allowing e-commerce companies to unlock the potential of the vast digital consumer market.

• China is leading the digital economy with the world’s largest e-commerce market representing over 50% of global transactions and reaching online retail sales estimated at $1.5 trillion in 2019 (more than the combined retail sales of the ten next largest markets in the world)

• China’s 850 million digital consumers are transforming the rapid commercialization of business models with over 95% of users accessing the internet via mobiles and reaching a mobile share of e-commerce sales of around 70%.

• Alibaba, the largest e-commerce retail company in China, sold over $74 billion during Single’s Day in 2020. It almost doubled sales volume from $38 billion in 2019.

• Chinese consumption is expected to grow by $6 trillion in 2030, comparable with the United States and Europe combined
