Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives are being introduced at universities and colleges across Canada. These initiatives include the creation of EDI-based positions and institutional policies, as well as strategic plans for future actions around EDI. What are the general goals of these initiatives? What challenges exist? And what are the experiences so far of people who are connected to EDI work on campus? This panel, made up of individuals with backgrounds in EDI and education in Canada, will explore these questions. The panel will also examine how EDI initiatives aim to help the people they are intended to help and whether there are any alternative approaches which could be explored in our educational institutions.
