Workshop #4 - Foraging Herb Walk
Weds. May 2, 2018
6 - 8 pm
There are so many edible and medicinal plants growing around Nelson... even right around the Womens' Ctr.
But herbs take many forms, many shapes and they aren't always unrecognizable. Sometimes it's due to its stage of growth and sometimes they look funny because of weather or soil conditions. And herb books don't always lead you in the right direction.
It's actually an enormous help to have an experienced guide to ask questions. Because you want to feel confident about your identification skills - especially if you're going to nibble or forage.
From this herb walk, you'll learn:
-
8-12 local edible and/or medicinal that you'll be able to harvest all Spring
-
the folk names and the scientific names to help you be crystal clear about what you're harvesting
-
stories of all sorts about these potent green allies, from mythical origin tales to chemical constituents to actual experiences of healing with these herbs
Bring your questions, your favourite plant i.d. book and your heart's curiosity ... and you'll be happy you did :)
