Event description

Description

AISCA invites all Independent Schools to send Teachers to the half day Workshop on Thursday, May 4th in Edmonton.

The workshop will be a follow up to the AISCA First Nations, Métis and Inuit sessions held in December, however, if you did not attend in December you are still encouraged to attend this second Workshop. The session will focus on two key activities: the first is the Blanket Exercise. The Blanket Exercise is a hands on way to explore the nation-to-nation relationship with Indigenous peoples in Canada, to work toward reconciliation and to empower people to build bridges of understanding and respect. The second half of the session will be a round table discussion on what reconciliation means for your School. The discussion will consider current initiatives that might be occurring, possibilities your program could pursue, barriers to reconciliation in your local context, and next steps forward.

The session will begin at noon with lunch provided by AISCA. AISCA will cover actual substitute costs and travel expenses as per policy for those coming from out of town. This event will be held in the Leland Room at the Chateau Louis Conference Centre in Edmonton.

Should you have any questions about this workshop, please contact Connie at the AISCA office at 780-469-9868.
