Event description

Description

This fentanyl harm reduction and overdose prevention workshop is presented free of charge by Streetworks Edmonton (http://www.streetworks.ca/) primarily for those who participate in dance music events and/or work in the music and hospitality industry (venue owners, event promoters, staff, artists, etc.) where accidental fentanyl overdose has now become a very substantial and fatal risk. Festival season is upon us, and this is an important opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will help us keep our communities safe.

The goal of this presentation is to explore practical and lifesaving harm reduction and overdose prevention information. This includes discussion around take home naloxone kits and how to use them, factors contributing to unintentional overdose, and harm reduction as a philosophy to support people who use drugs. Participants will be able to take home their own naloxone kit, free of charge, at the end of the workshop.

Across Canada and around the world, far too many lives are lost to unintentional drug overdose. Here in Alberta, like many places in the world, overdose deaths have been on the rise. This is, without a doubt, a tragedy. These are preventable deaths.
