Happy New Year!

In lieu of an Edmonton Christmas get together, the CES AB/NWT Board is hosting a Winter Lunch and Learn session. Please join us for lunch, a discussion about the new CE Designation requirements, and networking time on January 28th, 2019. We have two wonderful guest speakers- Gail Vallance Barrington and Stephanie Gazzola- who will be talking about the new CE designation requirements and their experience of going through the process. Come get to know our two speakers and your fellow CES members as we get 2019 off to a good start.

Speaker Bios

Gail Vallance Barrington is a graduate of McGill University (BA), Carleton University (MA) and the University of Alberta (PhD in Educational Administration). Since starting her consulting practice in 1985, she has conducted over 130 program evaluation studies in education, health, and research. Her top-rated book, Consulting Start-up and Management: A Guide for Evaluators and Applied Researchers (SAGE, 2012) continues to be popular. Awards include the Canadian Evaluation Society Contribution to Evaluation in Canada Award (2008) and the American Evaluation Association Alva and Gunnar Myrdal Award for Evaluation Practice (2016). She was made a Fellow of the Certified Management Consultants of Canada in 2014 and a Fellow of the Canadian Evaluation Society in 2018. Gail was recently Vice President of the Canadian Evaluation Society and led the review and update of the CES Evaluator Competencies. She teaches evaluation topics to Masters’ students at several universities and offers webinars and workshops on consulting skills. Her latest research topic relates to exploring the needs of mature professionals who begin consulting after the age of 50.

Stephanie Gazzola, MA, CE, obtained the Credentialed Evaluator designation in February 2018. She currently works for the Government of Alberta as a policy analyst and internal evaluator. Prior to joining the Government of Alberta, she was an evaluation consultant. Stephanie graduated from the University of Saskatchewan’s Applied Social Psychology program.
