Register for our upcoming Education Assistant Diploma Program live online info session with instructor Maya Sterling. Ashton College staff will also be available to advise and answer your questions about admissions and other general questions about the program.
The Education Assistant Course provides students, who are working with individuals and their disabilities, with the necessary skills and knowledge to become effective in real-life educational settings. This program focuses on the most prevalent disabilities and their developmental, functional and educational impacts on an individual. The goal of the program is to fully equip and prepare students to work with individuals with special needs using various support and educational strategies to aid their learning.
Meet the Instructor: Maya Sterling
Learning about individuals and what makes them unique has always been Maya’s passion. She is a trained Special Education teacher with several years of experience working with students of various backgrounds and abilities. Maya moved to Canada in 2016 to pursue her master’s degree in Educational Psychology and Special Education. Born and raised in the Caribbean, from Jamaica, she has been privileged to be a part of a diverse community of individuals and tasked with helping them navigate through life challenges. Passion drives Maya’s success and she enjoys the privilege of sharing her experiences as well as learning from others. She believes that being an educator is a great honour as you are given the chance to be a part of shaping the lives of others and in turn, your life is also impacted tremendously.
