Event Details

Are you a dentist needing to enhance communication skills amongst your dental team as well as your patients? The ODA is offering a full day workshop designed to teach and advise the dental professional how to communicate with their dental team in order to increase patient satisfaction and their needs for a dental experience. This course will offer a step by step guide on how to deepen the patient relationship with rapport, trust and clarity of treatment plan and financial agreements.   

Learning Objectives
Through a combination of lecture and small group activities, by the end of this session, participants will be able to learn: 

  • What is communication and why is it critical for practice success
  • Seven key human needs of a Canadian dental patient
  • Steps of relationship and how to do a case presentation of co-involvement

ü  Initial contact—establishing rapport

ü  Dental examination –establishing trust

ü  Discussing treatment options- key words and listening

ü  Presenting financial arrangements -- Tips for discussing patient finances

ü  Asking for a decision and follow up

ü  Handling insurance limitations and financial agreements

  • How to handle difficult patients, including:

ü  Overcoming objections --When they push-back on a treatment plan and/or refuse treatment

ü  When they ask for a discount

  • Defining patient satisfaction and value of survey
  • Communication systems for the dental team

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received in writing up to 7 business days (by January 25th) prior to the event will be given a full refund. No refund or credit will be issued for cancellations received less than 6 business days prior to the event. The ODA reserves the right to cancel seminars as the result of unforeseen circumstances or insufficient advance registration. In the event of such a cancellation, we will provide a full refund but, regrettably, cannot accept responsibility for out-of-pocket costs incurred due to the cancellation.
