Workshop Description
Participants will review leadership styles and models to manage performance effectively.
Leadership is defined as any time one attempts to influence the behaviour of an individual or group. Managers and leaders become more effective when they use a leadership style that is appropriate for individual or group they want to influence.
Part I
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of a leader and a manager.
- Understanding the difference between leadership and management, determine what leadership or management skills your position or organization needs most at this time.
- Review leadership models and learn why you are successful in leading one person or group and not another
- Determine your natural style and learn how to adapt your style to those you want to lead.
Part II
- Learn how to develop individuals and teams to peak performance.
- Identify problems in motivation and how to deal with them.
- Practice or observe a performance management discussion between a leader and staff.
- Review tools for making hiring and firing decisions, to determine when to delegate and when to keep control, to develop, motivate and evaluate your staff and volunteers, work with colleagues, set goals, design work and use in everyday influence situations.
- Develop an Action Plan to use in your organization.
About the Facilitator
Heather Erhard, BSW, CMC, CPCC, ACC, ROCC is the founder and Director of Erhard Associates, a management consulting, training and coaching firm dedicated to enhancing individual, team and organizational effectiveness. She brings over 25 years’ experience in leadership development, strategic planning, team building and coaching and has led the Managing and Leading in the Non-Profit Sector workshop for many years. Her passion is coaching groups and individuals to reach their full potential in their personal and professional lives. Heather has taught at the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg and Queen’s University. She is also a popular speaker at conferences.
