Description

Indigenous worldviews have entered the classroom.

The SFU Executive MBA in Aboriginal Business and Leadership is the only accredited MBA program in North America with a focus on Indigenous business. Designed for mid-career Indigenous and non-Indigenous professionals, participants are proven leaders who share a concern for economic development, Nation building and self-determination. The program includes the core concepts and knowledge included in most MBA programs, but recognizes that traditional knowledge plays a significant role in decision-making in Indigenous communities. Students can live anywhere and continue to work by attending intensive one or two week sessions in Vancouver over a period of two years.

The Online Info Session:

Our free, one-hour Online Info Session lets you hear from faculty via webinar. Learn more about the program, as well as admission requirements and the application process. This info session will include participation from the EMBA in Aboriginal Business and Leadership Program Director, Dr. Mark Selman and will feature a sample mini lecture on User Innovation by faculty member, Dr. Ian McCarthy.

Dr. Mark Selman is the Director of the Executive MBA for Aboriginal Business and Leadership. He is also responsible for directing other customized versions of the EMBA, including a long-running program with Teck Resources. Dr. Ian McCarthy came to SFU from the University of Warwick, England where he was Head of the Organizational Systems Strategy Unit. He worked for several years as a manufacturing engineer before earning his PhD in operations strategy from the University of Sheffield. As Professor of Technology and Operations Management in the Beedie School of Business at SFU, Ian's research and teaching focus on how organizations should be designed and managed so as to succeed in different industries. This includes linking operations, innovation, marketing and legal concepts. His work analyzes how these linkages impact how organizations should design and manage their business processes.
