Event description

Description

Participants will learn about emotional intelligence, gain awareness of their own 'EQ' and understand how relationships and communication impact effective engineering. The emotional intelligence workshop will be run by David Cory, a leadership development specialist.

Session Description: Engineers need superior technical skills to succeed in the workforce. Why would engineers need to be concerned with emotions? Because engineers need to work in teams, provide customer service (internally and externally), and perhaps one day become a manager requiring leadership skills. From your interview to your promotion to management, your company will be watching how well you manage your own emotions demonstrated by your behavior and how well you manage the emotions of others for effective workplace relationships. If you are not concerned with emotions, it will dramatically limit your ability to be successful personally and in your career. So, how can we be intelligent about emotions? Join David Cory, M.A., leadership development specialist, as he discusses how the research on emotional intelligence can help you ensure your own success.
