YMCA Newcomer Connections is excited to be hosting the Employer Engagement Breakfast and Forum on Tuesday, February 25 in Uptown Saint John's Delta Hotel. This event will highlight the challenges faced by newcomers and businesses alike regarding hiring and retaining workers in this region. We will close the event with round table discussions that will allow us to hear your questions, concerns, and needs as an employer directly.

[8:00 – 9:00] Networking Breakfast

full breakfast buffet with hot and cold beverages will be provided and allow you the opportunity to connect with fellow employers.

[9:00 – 10:00] Forum

Key stakeholders of the Saint John community will share their views and experiences around hiring and retaining newcomers.

[10:00 – 10:15] Break

[10:15 – 11:00] Round-table Discussions

Guests will be able to share their staffing experiences and needs, and the information we collect will allow us to shape our future programming to better serve the business needs of the community.

[11:00 – 11:15] Cultural Competency Brief

A member of our team will give a short presentation on the rising importance of multiculturalism and cultural intelligence in our community.

As a leading community organization, Y Newcomer Connections assists immigrants and refugees with their settlement needs and helps to facilitate their integration and participation in the community.

YMCA Newcomer Connections offers a diverse range of programs and services to newly arrived immigrants, including English language classes, employment readiness programs, Canadian cultural orientation, immigrant settlement and refugee resettlement assistance, and school readiness programs. With a multilingual team of more than 50 staff representing 11 countries, we make every effort to provide services in a client-centric manner that is inclusive and respectful of the rights, dignity and diversity of all newcomers to Canada.
